Originally known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, after the family name of Vespasian, it was inaugurated by his son Titus in 80 AD. The massive structure could seat more than 50,000 and the bloody gladiator combat and wild beast shows held there. Nowadays the Colosseo is the international symbol for Rome and still is one of the most amazing constructions of the ancient Rome and a must see for everybody who visits our magnificent city.
